What stays local
- The brief never leaves Microsoft Word on your computer.
- Citation detection and marking run as a VBA macro in that Word process.
- We do not operate a document vault or DMS.
What phones home
- A license check: your key and an optional machine label, enough to confirm the seat is valid.
- Not sent: document text, brief filenames, party names, or other work product.
Word & OS
- Target: Word for Windows (desktop).
- Macros must be allowed for the imported module, or place it in a Trusted Location.
- Mac Word and Word Online are not supported on the current VBA path.
Web “Analyze” preview
- Optional lead magnet on the homepage.
- Public filings only. Do not upload privileged or confidential material.
- Separate from the licensed Word product.
IT notes (small firm)
- Allow macro enablement or a Trusted Location for the TOA module.
- Allow outbound HTTPS to our license endpoint for key validation only.
- No inbound ports. No always-on agent. Not a cloud DMS connector.
You remain responsible for reviewing marks and meeting court rules.
Built with practicing counsel
We built TOA with practicing counsel (Joseph) after ChatGPT-style macros failed and metered upload pricing was rejected for privilege risk.
